Mickey Mouse is a humorous anthropomorphic animal cartoon character and serves as the official mascot for The Walt Disney Company. Created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at Walt Disney Studios in 1928, Mickey is depicted as a cheerful mouse typically dressed in red shorts, oversized yellow shoes, and white gloves. Over the years, he has become one of the most iconic and recognizable figures worldwide. Mickey made his initial appearance in a test screening short called “Plane Crazy,” but his official debut was in the groundbreaking sound cartoon “Steamboat Willie” (1928).
Throughout his career, Mickey has starred in more than 130 films, including notable titles such as “The Band Concert” (1935), “Brave Little Tailor” (1938), and the classic “Fantasia” (1940). While he primarily featured in short films, Mickey also appeared in full-length feature films on occasion. Ten of his cartoons received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, with “Lend a Paw” winning the Oscar in 1942. In recognition of his cultural impact, Mickey became the first cartoon character to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978.
